APPEARANCE

His color is rich, the vivid earthy red color of freshly fired red clay, overlaid with a softer layer of cooler golden brown. The shade lightens to a dark taupe along his undersides and paws. The tip of his tail begins brown and tips to black, the same hue of the blaze that runs from forehead to rump along his spine. An unruly mop of clay-colored fur rises from forehead and frames his face, a perfect blend for his pelt. Shortly behind his skull, the clay-colored mane darkens to an earthy brown until just before his shoulders where it deepens to black. Tufts of brown tip his elbows, while his undersides are layered in an increasingly shaggy coat of black. His eyes, however, remain his distinct trait. His right is a rich copper, a blending of his mother's red-chocolate and father's amber, but the other is a brilliant emerald green. Across the bridge of his nose are three long claw scars, and there's a deep notch cutting his left ear near in half from tip to base. A few other thin scars mark his coat.

HISTORY

  • After a very long and difficult labor, Gadi and his siblings were brought into the world by night. After much initial protest, Gadi has grudgingly settled into his role in the world, proving to be a very noisy and ravenous little mite. The eldest of the lot, the brawny cub is already proving to be a bit of a pawful.
  • While out on a walk to the borders with his mother and Kiokota to see the lone tree and see the claw marks of his father, grandfather, and those beyond, the family was ambushed by a rogue male named Kinyago, who claimed he knew Kori as well as killed Kori's brother, Ekundu. Nonceba was overwhelmed by the rogue, and Gadi and his sister were stolen. After finding and nearly killing the rogue, Kori learned the location of Gadi, and with the assistance of Nabana and Onaedo brought the boy home. Kiokota, however, is believed to be dead, eaten by the rogue.
  • Gadi has managed to survive to reach the age of a juvenile, though events of the past and his aging status seem to have made the boy prone to seriousness, a un-juvenile like maturity born of trauma and a stern upbringing. It hasn't proven to be a bad thing, but it doesn't always make him the best of playmates.
  • Gadi's been taking up early lessons on guardianship - lessons that might prove useful now that he's apparently taken it upon himself to look over a true handful… Kaidi, lost half-sister of Kikora and former princess, whom he's herded into the pride's territory so he can keep an eye on her instead of letting her wander the plains alone.
  • After a rather brutal fight which left both badly injured, Kaidi managed to find her way out of the valley. Perhaps for the better, given the reaction of the other youngsters, and Kikora especially, when they heard she'd been there. Though he's since healed, the bridge of his muzzle remains striped with furless claw marks, scars he'll likely carry the rest of his life.
  • Recently, Gadi accompanied his Grandfather, uncles, and his older male cousins on a trek into the Pridelands on his first 'grown-up' assignment, discovering the rumors of drought and abandonment a harsh reality. After several days of exploration confirmed the lands were empty, the Kopje lions returned home to share the news with the pride.
  • He survived his first battle, on a quest with Kori, Nabana, Khairi, Onaedo, Kiini, and Qhikiza to track down a gang of three lions who kidnapped Nyunya. Turns out, the three were brothers of Kinoro, killer of Kenta's first little of whom only Gadi's mother, Nonceba survived. Two of the brothers were slain, though one escaped. Gadi was left with a chunk in his ear, lost several claws from his left forepaw, and received a slaw of minor and moderate cuts and bites.
  • Gadi left the Kopje Valley, traveling out into the nearby territories and terrains to see more of the world and appease his adolescent wanderlust, seeing out things unknown and perhaps his own future. He wasn't gone long, perhaps two weeks, when he was briefly seen racing back to the Kopje long enough to talk to his father before racing off again, and his trail's been scented among the Uzima and the Mekauri. Just what brought the usually stoic young lion to an eruption of wild emotion and shock in his brief return to the Kopje is unknown, though whatever it is, the weight of the implication is heavy.
  • He's recently returned to the Kopje Valley and on to the Celestial Volcano where the bulk of the young members of the pride had been brought by the King. With him was a young lioness named Malkia, who was revealed to be his long-lost sister, Kiokota, who'd been living with the Mekauri the entire time. Also revealed by the lion was that he'd found the also-missing Kaidi, alive but not well, though stubbornly plugging along.
  • Gadi left the pride with his mother and father for unknown reasons to join his uncle Ekundu.

FUN FACTS

  • Gadi has a condition known as Heterochromia, where either eye is a different color from the other. Heterochromia can also exhibit signs in skin and hair coloration, and it's also begun to show in the odd, tri-colored mane that's developing.
